Lawrence North Concert Bands
Concert Band (Band 1)
The LN Concert Band is the entry-level ensemble in the LN band program. In order to be a part of this group, a student must first demonstrate a commitment to rehearsal and practice time, and a willingness to learn. Students in this ensemble must diligently pursue individual as well as ensemble goals on their instrument. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in pep band.
Students in this ensemble are strongly encouraged to be a part of Marching Pride.
Class Structure: This is a performance-based ensemble intended to expose students to higher levels of music continuing past the middle school band class. Students are required to participate in all scheduled rehearsals and concerts throughout the year for a grade. Students in Symphonic Band are STRONGLY encouraged to take weekly or bi-weekly private lessons with our private lesson staff or a director. All students in this ensemble are required to participate in pep band. Solo & Ensemble is HIGHLY encouraged.
Symphonic Band (Band 2)
The Symphonic Band is one of our Intermediate ensembles in the LN band program. In order to be a part of this group, a student must first demonstrate a high level of maturity, technical proficiency appropriate for an intermediate player, and a commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Students in this ensemble must diligently pursue individual as well as ensemble goals on their instrument. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in pep band, and take weekly or bi-weekly lessons. Students are also STRONGLY encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble. Students in this ensemble are strongly encouraged to be a part of Marching Pride.

Students are required to participate in all scheduled rehearsals and concerts throughout the year for a grade. As an upper level band at Lawrence North, students of this ensemble have higher expectations than most students in the band department. Students in Symphonic Band are STRONGLY encouraged to take weekly or bi-weekly private lessons with our private lesson staff or a director. All students in this ensemble are required to participate in pep band.
Wind Symphony (Band 3)
The Wind Symphony is one of the top performing ensembles in the LN band program. In order to be a part of this group, a student must first demonstrate a high level of maturity, technical proficiency, and a commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Students in this ensemble must diligently pursue individual as well as ensemble goals on their instrument. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in pep band, and take weekly or bi-weekly lessons. Students are also STRONGLY encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble. Students in this ensemble are strongly encouraged to be a part of Marching Pride.

Wind Ensemble (Band 4)
The Wind Ensemble is the top performing ensemble in the LN band program. In order to be a part of this group, a student must first demonstrate a high level of maturity, technical proficiency, and a commitment to rehearsal and practice time. This ensemble is by audition and recommendation only. Students in this ensemble must diligently pursue individual as well as ensemble goals on their instrument. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in Solo & Ensemble and pep band, and bi-weekly lessons. Students are also encouraged to participate in All-District or All-State and may be required to learn audition music. Students in this ensemble are strongly encouraged to be a part of Marching Pride.
Class Structure: This is a performance-based ensemble intended to expose students to advanced high school and introductory collegiate level literature.
Students are required to participate in all scheduled rehearsals and concerts throughout the year for a grade. As the premier band at Lawrence North, students of this ensemble have the most rigorous expectations of all students in the band department.
